Mike began down the photography path many years ago, using a Kodak Tele-Disc camera. The film was in disc's, and was very grainy, it had no adjustable focusing at all (focus = infinity). The thought of adjustable f-stops, exposure settings and the like fortunately did not cross his mind at this young age. And so he was happy! |
| His interest in photography waned as he entered his teens, as now fiddling with his camera became of paramount importance. His father owned a Minolta XD-5, which Mike had drooled over for years and years. One day, out of the blue, it was presented as a gift to Mike, this re-stoked the creative fires. |

As his technical and photographical knowledge increased, Mike decided to plunge himself into debt and on a snap decision purchased a Nikon Coolpix 4500 4 megapixel digital camera. It has so far served him very well and he'd recommend it for most situations. One has to expect some shortcomings in all things, and the CP4500 has a few but learning to work around those is part of the game.

The latest in camera acquisitions, and likely the last for some time, is a Canon Digital Rebel (300d). Breaking into the 6 megapixel range, and having the ability to swap out lenses at will, along with it being a superior low light camera, and (almost) affordable...all this allowed me to justify purchasing it. I'm so impressed with what it can do, it has better dynamic lighting range than the CP4500, the lens it comes with is surprisingly sharp, focusing is fast, colors are accurate, RAW mode...I could go on and on. It's a beauty, anyone looking to get into a Digital SLR, this is a fine choice that you won't be sorry with. |
