About: The Website

I put this website together as a showcase for my photography.  The initial reasoning behind it was simply I needed a place to put my photo's, where space wouldn't be a limitation.  My own computer seemed ideal for it, but if I was going to host my own files I'd need to create a website.  After toying with the idea of simply hosting the files here and giving it a very base look (ie: click filename, see picture) I decided to go full guns.  Domain name was registered at a very reasonable price from domains@cost.ca, and DNS pointing is being handled for free at Zone Edit.  Initially the site was designed in Frontpage 2002, and run from a Win32 port of Apache. Now, this site is coded by hand, mostly, and powered by Free BSD.  The new gallery portion uses PHP to serve up the images and allows me to update the image database much quicker than before.  The server it lives on is a Pentium III 800 with 256MB of RAM.
